GNU License に関して（雑記）

The Foundations of the GPL

Nobody should be restricted by the software they use. There are four freedoms that every user should have:

• the freedom to use the software for any purpose,
• the freedom to change the software to suit your needs,
• the freedom to share the software with your friends and neighbors, and
• the freedom to share the changes you make.

When a program offers users all of these freedoms, we call it free software.

Developers who write software can release it under the terms of the GNU GPL. When they do, it will be free software and stay free software, no matter who changes or distributes the program. We call this copyleft: the software is copyrighted, but instead of using those rights to restrict users like proprietary software does, we use them to ensure that every user has freedom.

実際のところ利用者は、売っていいの？

売るとどうなるの？

何をすると売れるの？

こういった志向をしますが、freesoftwareの定義においては、

・どんな目的でも利用できる

・必要に応じて改変できる

・友達や近しい人とソフトウェアを共有できる

・自身の改変を共有できる

以上は、自由である以上出来るととるのが普通です。

また、これらが出来る事が、freesoftwareであって、売っていいかという項目はありません。よってGNUでは、売ってもfreesoftwareであります。

ただし、付け加えておきますが、以上の事が出来るソフトウェアを売っていいのかという話でもあります。現実的に昨今のダウンロード販売などでは、違和感がありすぎます。

皮肉な説明でもありますが、太字の説明がないと、気付きづらい内容でもあります。公的な文書では皮肉を入れるわけにもいかず、英語はもとより、日本語訳を読む場合においても解釈力がいる宣言文書であります。

自分なら売っていい、売って悪いという事を最初に書きたいと思考しますが、明示しないところに悩みがある気がします。どうしても記事にすると、批判は否めず、GNUへお詫び申し上げます。
